Integrated steel at this scale normally takes the better part of a decade to permit in India. Site preparation, environmental sequencing, port linkage and power supply each have their own authority and their own queue, and normally run one after the other.

At Anakapalli they were run in parallel. The State Investment Promotion Board settled the project in one sitting with the departments present, and the statutory approvals moved across them at the same time.

The site sits against deep-water port access on a coastline built for bulk handling, with captive power and an existing metallurgical base at Visakhapatnam behind it.

This project is proof of what can be achieved when clarity of policy meets speed of execution.
