About the Board

The state’s investment promotion and facilitation agency.

The Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board is the state’s investment promotion and facilitation agency. We are the first point of contact for companies evaluating Andhra Pradesh. Our job is to get a project decided and to hold the rest of government together around it, from the first conversation through to commissioning and beyond.

The Board was constituted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in March 2016. It works alongside the Department of Industries and Commerce.

Our mandate

Four functions, as set out when the Board was constituted.

Promote the statePosition Andhra Pradesh as an investment destination across sectors, through roadshows, summits and bilateral engagement.Facilitate investmentBe the single interface between an investor and every government agency and department the project needs.Coordinate across departmentsIncubate initiatives that cut across multiple departments where a single department cannot deliver the outcome alone.Advise on policyConvene business leaders, economists and academics to advise the government, and support economic and policy research.

How the state decides

Major projects are decided by the State Investment Promotion Board, a standing statutory forum with the relevant departments represented on it. A project is decided once, by a body empowered to bind all of them. That structure is why timelines here are measured in months.

Once the Board has cleared a project, the statutory approvals run across departments at the same time. Your EDB lead holds the tracker and the escalation path.
