The state in five moves

Most investment stories begin with an inheritance. This one begins with a subtraction.

The Reorganisation Act of 2014 took Hyderabad to Telangana, and with it the capital city, the information technology industry that had grown around it and much of the revenue base.

What remained was farmland, a river system, 1,053 kilometres of coastline and a government with no city to govern from.

Everything since has been construction, not continuation.
